Martin Luther King Jr. wrote this letter on a newspaper from prison on April 16, 1963. He had no place to write so he wrote on the outlines of the newspaper. He aimed the letter for the writers of the newspaper article. Martin Luther King Jr, was a Civil Rights activist who wanted freedom for his people. He explains how the police beat them up at their own will. They used brutality in the form of dogs, they would not feed the people, and they would curse at them. MLK explains how if he was not in prison right now he would have approached everyone and talked to them in peace. His tone in this letter is calm, encouraging, and emotional.
I think that MLK is a very wise man who seeks freedom for his people in the right way. He does not want any violence or any killings. All he wants to do is talk and help people understand that the color of your skin does not matter. I found this letter extremely interesting, and I wish there were many other activists like him out there. His letter should point out to everyone that it does not matter who you are, you could still make a difference.

"2 Policemen in Egypt get seven years for killing activist"
This article was in the Los Angeles Times. The author of this article is Amro Hassan. In 2010, Khaled Said was brutally beat to death in an Internet cafe. He was beat because he posted up a video of corrupt officers distributing drugs and money from confiscated criminals. Now, a year later those two police officers Sgt. Awad Suleiman and patrolman Mahmoud Salah Mahmoud were found guilty for manslaughter in the coastal region of Alexandria. They will face seven years behind the bars. He was an activist-blogger, and it was after his efforts that they went against the reign of Mubarak.
Police brutality is becoming more and more common, and it is a world wide topic now. I think that an end should come to this quickly. Innocent people who are just doing their jobs are dieing for no absolute reason. We should all make effort to stopping this madness. This usually happens more in the Middle East, because they do not have freedom of speech or press like we do. However, the good news is that these dictators are slowly being brought down. Now finally these writers could have their freedom in publishing whatever they want about the corrupt government. An end should come now, and we could help bring that end.

"I Have A Dream"
This speech, "I Have A Dream" was written by Martin Luther King Jr. on August 28, 1963 on the footsteps of the Lincoln Memorial. His speech was aimed for everyone who was present, and for everyone in the world. His was advocating civil rights, and during his speech he was expressing angry emotional words. He was demanding freedom for the African Americans. He believed it was about time that they receive their freedom. In his speech, he uses ethos and pathos. For the ethos, he states that the right thing to do is give freedom to the blacks. They should be treated equally as normal people. For the pathos, he explains how he wants his daughters to be judged by their characters and well beings rather than the color of their skins. His speech is so powerful that it is still remembered today by the entire world. It still shakes people and tells them not to be racist.
I think that Gokors and Michael's presentation was extremely detailed. Even though I knew about this speech, I did not exactly know everything about it. Now, I could proudly say that I am educated about King's speech. It is a really touching speech, that uses a lot of emotion and strong adjectives describing his view about the racism. I respect his ideas, and his speech because everyone should always respect each other. I also believe that his speech will forever be remembered, and is probably the best speech of its time.

"Kadafi killed against a backdrop of NATO support"
This article was written by Henry Chu and David S. Cloud. It was also founded in Los Angeles Times. Today, marked the death of Moammar Kadafi. He died by NATO's aerial assault on Libya. It was said that the bombing were done by a U.N. mandate to protect its civilians. It is said that this operation has been going on for seven months, and on some occasions they have been close to killing him. Finally, he was brought down by a French jet pilot and an American Predator drone aimed at his convey in Surt. NATO officials said that they were not aiming for him, they just saw a large convoy that was leading and unexpected path. Kadafi survived the attack, but was captured by rebels who surely shot him to his death in minutes or even seconds. Now that he is dead, NATO forces will leave Libya within days.
I think that Kadafi deserved this harsh treatment. During his reign, he did nothing to better the lives of his people. All he did was kill innocent civilians. If i were a rebel, I would have done the same. After months and years on trying to get rid of him, they finally achieved it. I do not think killing people is a correct thing to do but after this event Libya will slowly start to move towards the better. I also think that the rebels will finally stop their fights and everything will go back to normal. The sad thing is that no operation ever gets done without the help of U.S.

"Straw Into Gold"
"A Straw Into Gold" is written by Sandra Cisneros. She is a modern author who traveled the world just like Benjamin Franklin. The occasion of her story is about her life. Her main audience is the people reading it. Her purpose for writing this short story was to show her success. She is a Mexican-American writer who was very much influenced by her family and travel. She suc school in France, and never knew how to cook Mexican food.
In her autobiography, she feels as if she creates allusions. She feels as if she is being asked to do the impossible. One small example of her success was when she did not know how to make tortillas. She put in the effort and succeeded. However, she has her bad sides. She goes against her families wills and leaves the house. She realized she did not want to be in a home with all boys, and she is much different from the rest of her family. The ironic part is that she does wonder off, she becomes a very successful woman. Also, she makes a very strong connection with her mother and father. She states that she is hard willed and intelligent like her mother, but very emotional like her father. She also gained the love of travel from her father. I think she is a very educated woman, and that all woman in the world should be adventurous and enthusiastic like her. Her autobiography gave us a small glimp as to how wonderful her life is as a writer and traveler.

My Five Virtues
Every person has virtues that they need to work on throughout there life. I for one, have five specific virtues that I need to work on. Those five virtues are Order, Courage, self- discipline, tolerance, and confidence. My first virtue order is very important because I am now old enough to organize my life without the help of anyone. When, I succeed with this virtue, I will realize that my life will become much easier.
My second virtue would be courage. I think that courage is very important in everyone's life. Every individual needs courage in their life to help them become the best person they could possibly be. I want to be able to stand up for myself, as well show people that I do not have a weak mind.
Self- discipline is an extremely important virtue. This virtue is the one that keeps you alive throughout your life. It guides you, and takes you through the prosperous paths and not the paths of hell. I want to be able to control myself in very tight situations. I need to learn to keep my emotions and anger anchored, in order to balance myself throughout life.
Tolerane is a very important vitue because it helps you to become an even better individual. I must learn to respect my surroundings even more than I used to. I have to learn and appreciate my surroundings without trying to change anything. I should have a positive attitude towards peoples opinions and their practices.
The final and most important virtue of all would be confidence. This virtue definately is the building blocks of a very successful life. Confidence does not mean you need to be cocky or even boast about yourself. This just means that you should always walk with you head held up high, so that no individual ever realizes your weak points. Confidence, will definately pave you way to success.
The virtue I know I will work on for two days is Order. I will organize myself even more for two days, just to challenge myself even more. If I set these standards, I will realize that my life will gradualy become more organized and easier.
